The City of Surrey will offer Career Firefighters with the opportunity to take part in accredited advanced education programs throughout their career as a Firefighter.
Career Firefighters will be required to perform a variety of job functions including, but not limited to, fire suppression, fire inspections, hydrant maintenance, fire prevention education, community initiatives, and working with our communications professionals within the dispatch centre. Requirements Minimum Qualifications: Successful completion of an IFSAC or Pro-Board certified NFPA 1001 - Level 2 program with Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations A current First Responder License or higher level of BC Provincial EMA Licensing (EMR, PCP, ACP). We do not accept OFA licensing Valid Class 3 or Class 1 B.C. Driver's License with air endorsement and a safe driving record Grade 12 completion or equivalent Good physical condition, and psychologically suitable for the position of firefighter
Preferred Qualifications: Post-Secondary education, Trades Apprenticeship or Military Training Work experience related to firefighting such as Paramedic or Auxiliary Firefighter Trades experience (demonstrating mechanical aptitude). A history of volunteerism and community participation Fluency in multiple languages Additional fire service-related courses Experience in team oriented activities or organizations
